You’ve got your business registered and your coffee is hot. Now you’re ready to tell the world. In the UK, if you’re in B2B or professional services, "telling the world" usually means one thing: LinkedIn.
But I often see new founders making one of two mistakes:
They only post from their personal profile and the "business" feels like a hobby.
They set up a Company Page, post once, and wonder why it’s a ghost town.
The "Honest Marketer" secret? You need both. Think of them as the Power Couple of your brand.
People buy from people. They want to see your face, hear your opinions and understand your "why." Your personal profile is where the conversations happen. It’s where you share the "highs and lows" we talked about in Part 1: The Boring Bits.
The Goal: To be the person people want to work with.
Your Company Page is your badge of authority. When someone clicks the logo on your personal experience section, they should land on a page that looks like a real business.
SEO Power: Company pages are indexed by Google. If someone searches for your business name, this page helps you "own" the search results.
Follower Growth: It allows people to follow the brand without necessarily being a 1st-degree connection with you.
The Goal: To prove the business is bigger than just a side-hustle.
Here is a tip for those of you whose website is still a "work in progress." Don't let a lack of a URL stop you from sharing your expertise.
Use your LinkedIn Company Page as your blog.
LinkedIn Articles allow you to write long-form, professional content that stays on your page indefinitely.
By publishing your advice here first, you’re building a library of trust that you can eventually move over to your website later. It proves you aren't just a "silent attendee" in your industry - you’re a voice worth listening to.
Don't just invite everyone you’ve ever met to"Like" your page.
Share from the Page, Add value from the Profile: Post an update on your Company Page, then share it to your personal feed with your own "personal" take on the topic.
Tag your Page: In your personal posts, mention your business page. It creates a seamless loop for people to explore your services.
If the thought of managing two profiles and writing"snappy" headlines makes you want to hide under your desk - don't. This is exactly where I can "do the do" for you:
Profile Audit: Setting up and optimising both your Personal and Company profiles.
Content Creation: Writing the articles and posts that make you look like the expert you are.
Management: Handling the scheduling so you stay consistent without being glued to your phone.
The Honest Truth: LinkedIn is a marathon, not a sprint. You don't need 10,000 followers by Friday; you need the right 50 people noticing you’re open for business.
